As of 9 March 2014, new passports and identity cards for adults will be valid for 10 years. Documents for minors under the age of 18 will remain valid for five years, as before. The new fees for travel documents and ID cards will take effect on the same date.

July 1, 2015 The Dutch government will stop issuing passports and visas at the Consulate General in Chicago, as well as the Honorary Consulates in Atlanta, Boston, and Los Angeles, on October 1, 2015.
June 23, 2015 The issuance of Dutch travel documents is changing worldwide, and this will affect the service to Dutch citizens in the United States as well.
